WANG Kefei, female, 35 years old, Changchun City. WANG Kefei worked at Changchun Branch of the Agriculture Bank in Jilin Province.

Since July 22, 1999, she was detained illegally several times because she was a Falun Gong practitioner. However, she was steadfast in the detention center and was heavily shackled for 11 days as a result. She had to be carried in and out of the room when called for interrogation.

In early August 2001, WANG was illegally sentenced to “re-education” through forced labor, and was sent to Heizuizi Female Labor Camp where she was tortured. Several days after being sent to the labor camp, her face became deformed from torture and her body was covered with bruises.

In November 2001, she protested the overtime slave labor she was subjected to and was tortured by LUAN Yunjuan, the deputy division head of the labor camp, among others. After WANG started a hunger strike, she was tied, standing up, to the head of a double-bunk metal bed so she couldn't move or lie down. Sometimes she was laid flat on the ground. Her hunger strike lasted 25 days.

Around 9 a.m. on December 20, 2001, the Heizuizi Labor Camp sent WANG, who was critically ill, to the hospital at the Jilin Province Labor Re-education Center. She was unconscious and incontinent, but the doctor didn't conduct any examination and both her hands were tied to the sides of the bed while she received intravenous infusions (IVs.).

Hospital staff didn't check on her, and her IV bottle was changed by a female inmate. Around 6 p.m., WANG Kefei was found to be making no sound, and was immediately carried to the morgue without any emergency treatment.

According to incomplete statistics, within the past five years beginning on July 20, 1999, more than 3160 practitioners have been verified as being tortured to death in over 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. However, according to the government's official internal statistics, the actual number of practitioners who died after being arrested had reached 1,600 by the end of 2001. In addition, there are at least 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners who have been illegally sentenced to prison. Over 100,000 practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor camps. Thousands of practitioners have been forcefully sent to psychiatric hospitals to be tortured with injections that are damaging to the central nervous system. Large groups of Falun Gong practitioners have been forcefully sent to local brainwashing classes, where they have been subjected to both physical and mental torture. Many more practitioners have been severely beaten and had large sums of money extorted from them by so-called "law-enforcement officials." When large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners are beaten to death, injured, and their families are broken up, when they have to leave home and go from place to place because of the persecution, millions of Falun Gong practitioners' families, relatives, good friends and colleagues are also implicated and brainwashed to varying degrees. Listed below are the names of the Falun Gong practitioners who have died from torture, and a brief description of their cases. Hopefully, these dreadful experiences and agonizing scenes will arouse consciences and stir hearts all over the world.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa (about), is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Practiced in over 50 countries world-wide, Falun Gong has roots in traditional Chinese culture. With government estimates of as many as 100 million practicing Falun Gong, China's Communist leader Jiang Zemin outlawed the peaceful practice in July 1999 (report). Since that time, Jiang Zemin's regime has intensified its propaganda campaign to turn public opinion against the practice while imprisoning, torturing and even murdering those who practice it. The Falun Dafa Information Center has verified details of 2829 deaths (reports / sources) since the persecution of Falun Gong in China began in 1999. In October 2001, however, Government officials inside China reported that the actual death toll was well over 1,600. Expert sources now estimate that figure to be much higher. Hundreds of thousands have been detained, with more than 100,000 being sentenced to forced labor camps, typically without trial.
